They estimate fractional amounts of color on Mondrian-inspired examples, and measure the artwork using 100s grid overlays. They also create their own Mondrian-inspired art using specific fraction amounts. Next, students learn how to turn those fraction amounts into decimal number representatio
Hey friend! This product from Wild Child Designs has two parts. It’s meant to help you and your students take a break from the worksheets to creatively explore powers of 10 and other exponential number patterns. Both parts have been tried and tested in my fifth grade classroom. The second part takes students through a visible thinking routine called Cl
Resource for Black History Month and Martin Luther King, Jr. DayThe purpose of these activities is to help students read deeply while reading excerpts from historical civil rights speeches. So often, civil rights leaders like Dr. King are discussed as if they were super heroes. They are, in a sense, super heroes. It’s useful in many subjects other than language arts because its patterned repetition calls attention to certain details in the subject. I have used it in math, social studies and science! This project consists of five parts: Reading the mini-biography of Georgia O’Keefe. Observing close up photographs of the natural world to view it as Georgia did. This uses the see-think-wo
