KFUNdamentals: Where we "keep the FUN in the FUNdamentals!"
I was always looking for fun ways to teach the standards and keep my students engaged. I started creating my own materials designed to teach fundamental skills through fun and total group engagement and wanted to share these FUN ideas with other teachers. I started presenting at various Kindergarten conferences in California with my brilliant colleague, Sarah, who is now busy raising her children. Writing Instant Sentences Perfect for beginning writing !
Use the 48 graphics of nouns, 48 graphics of verbs, and 48 graphics of places (to be used as prepositional phrases) to create silly sentences. Kindergarten Graduation Day Song Words (tune of It's A Small World)
Here is our version of a cute song you can use for your kindergarten graduation. You can download an instrumental version of "It's A Small World After all" from iTunes for $1.99 or less and match the song to this book. If the song has an extra chorus, just print an extra chorus page. If the song is too long, just fade it out at the end. Try to find one that isn't too fast. This is my favorite re-usable tool to use for number writing practice. The students love it because they get to trace the numbers and then write them with a fine tipped marking pen. Just print on card stock and laminate so students can erase with a damp paper towel. I make a set of 6 cards so a small group can practice while I watch and guide them. Shapes: Circle, Square, Triangle, Rectangle Writing Pre-K, TK , K, 1st. Sp. Ed.
Print these pages and use them to create a class book for each shape.
Brainstorm ideas about items that look like a circle, such as a pancake, clock, or a CD.
As students illustrate the item they chose, you write the name of the object on lined paper for your student to copy on the blank lines of the circle page. They also trace the dotted letters.
Bind pages together to create a class book. Create a cover out of construction paper.

Pattern Block Addition Book: Hands-on, Sums to 2-10, Common Core number bonds
Compose and Decompose addition to ten with these cute addition books and Pattern Blocks.
For page 1:
Students create an object out of one Pattern Block. (Example: One yellow hexagon is the sun.)
-Then, students complete the sentence with the name of the object they created. You write it, they copy it.
-Students complete the number sentence to match their object. Page one will always be 1 + 0 = 1.

A Halloween Color Story: Color Sight Words Kgtn Common Core, pre-K, TK, & sp ed.
This delightful story will take your students through eight color words as they discover the Halloween characters that came to the Halloween party!
It begins with the black cat: "Black cat, Black cat, What do you see? He sees an orange pumpkin who sees a white ghost, etc.
In the end, all of the characters are at a Halloween party.
